You cannot hope to defeat death …

I finally beat Puzzle Quest.

If battling Dugog was hard, the final boss battle is completely insane.

(This is the part where you ask, “Just how insane was it?”)

Well, here’s how insane it was: it took me 45 attempts to beat the Ultimate Bad Guy.

I’ll post my impressions later but for now I’ll leave you with this comforting thought: no Goblins were harmed in the making of this video game …

(… well, actually, that’s not quite true.)

“Finally”? It’s not exactly as if it took you long!

I have the habit of blitzing through a game if I’m really enjoying it but I do eventually replay games at a leisurely pace to take in all the nuances and subtleties of gameplay. I intend to do just that with Puzzle Quest.

But “finally” was the word to use. I battled the UBG over several sessions and was pretty damned close to giving up. If I was the sort of gamer who got physically violent when frustrated, I would most assuredly be shopping for a new PSP now.

Definitely one of the hardest endgame battles I’ve played in recent years.
