Makai Senki Disgaea.
The first episode of the Disgaea anime. I’d strongly recommend staying away from the anime if you haven’t played the first nine chapters of the game and would rather not be spoiled.

Wedding cake toppers ranked pretty highly on the list of things I couldn’t care any less about before I learned about the work of McDevitt Studio‘s Troy McDevitt.

He sculpts extraordinary custom cake toppers that radiate character and style. McDevitt works from photos and uses 99 cent acrylic paint, Super Sculpey and Toxicmom Studio wax for these mini-masterpieces.

Cake toppers are his bread and butter — on average he does three a month — but he’s also done some limited-run fantasy kits based on his incredible sculptures.

His work has attracted customers around the world and even caught the eye of celebrities.

McDevitt says, “I’ve probably been sculpting for maybe 6 or 7 years now. I figure in another 20 years I’ll be happy with the way my stuff looks.” I figure in 20 years our heads will all explode. No mortal man will be able to handle that degree of sheer awesomeness.

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
is a pretty complex game. The manual, in-game help and tutorials will help players come to grips with the basics of the game but there’s still a lot to take in and keep track of.

(There’s also some stuff that has been omitted. For instance, the L and R buttons on the PSP page up/down long lists. This is very useful when you’re managing equipment in your item bag and warehouse.)

It’s no surprise DoubleJump Books produced a strategy guide for the game but what was surprising was the company gave away a PDF version of the guide for the original PS2 game, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. The rationale was people would love the free PDF guide so much they would buy the printed version. I thought that was very cool of the company. It was pretty much a big gamble since there was every possibility people would be content with the PDF file.

There was also the possibility someone would abuse this act of goodwill and the world being what it is and some people being who they are, this is exactly what happened. Some ne’er-do-well decided to sell links to the PDF file on eBay. By ne’er-do-well, I mean “complete jackass.” By comparison, those gamers who bought a link to a free PDF file would be “partial jackasses.”

Managing tags in WordPress

As I noted in a previous entry, a default installation of WordPress 2.3+ will not let users exploit tags fully.

One of the problems you’ll run into when trying to tag a post is remembering what previous tag(s) you used. Unfortunately, there’s no built-in tag management right now. You can list edit and delete categories but not tags.

Plugin to the rescue!

There are a couple of different tag management plugins available in the official plugin repository but I went with Christine DavisTag Managing Thing. It had everything I was looking for and wasn’t bloated with features I didn’t need.
