A photo of Takara’s Masterpiece Convoy. The figure was released on December 2003 but the first glimpse Transformers fans had of it was in July that year. I was practically giddy with excitement when I first saw the JPEGs online. What a stunning representation of my favourite Transformer.
According to Takara designer Kobayashi Hironori, Masterpiece Convoy took three years to develop. That’s an unusually long development time for an action figure but it’s clear a lot of love was put into this.
