The third’s the charm

Guild Wars: Sanctum Cay
I beat Sanctum Cay yesterday in Hard Mode to make it 14/25 towards the Guardian of Tyria title.

This was a noteworthy accomplishment since it was achieved in a strange session during which I somehow contrived to make every possible mistake I could.

My first try was curtailed almost immediately when I hit Shift+Power instead of Shift+Print Screen. Instead of taking a screenshot without the UI, as I intended, the PC quickly shut down.

Thankfully, the reconnect feature is available once again so I continued where I left off in the mission after I powered-up my PC and logged on.

Things didn’t improve.

Defiance

September 4 and I’m still GW:EN-less.

Apparently there was a mix-up of some sorts resulting in a delay getting the game to local stores. I doubt I’ll be getting it by post before Saturday at the earliest. Hard thunder

Guild Wars: Thunderhead Keep
If one mission can be said to embody everything that’s bad about Guild Wars then Thunderhead Keep must surely be that mission.

It was a major frustration to my first character, the Necromancer, two years ago. I’m not sure how many sessions or how many days I spent stuck there but it was enough to make me wonder if perhaps this Guild Wars thing wasn’t quite working out.

Oh yeah, it’s tough.

It’s tough simply putting a group together for the mission. If you managed to wrangle an invite from a group, chances are your group couldn’t find a monk. If the group managed to find a monk, chances are you couldn’t get some other profession the leader insisted on having.

And once underway, the frustration really mounts.
